Doctor Who Series 7a Review By Finlay Cassie
Introduction
As a dedicated Whovian I have decided to Review the first part of series 7. After The Disappointment That was The Doctor The Widow and The Wardrobe I had my hopes up for a great series…
A Pond Life
I make’s sense to start at the beginning so here it is a Pond Life
Part 1 The doctor is Back! Even if it is just for a minute, Part 1 shows how much the doctor gets up to off screen. After The God Complex I was wondering if the doctor would keep in contact with Mr and Mrs Pond.
3.5/5
Part 2
The Doctor Burst in on some groggy ponds. Telling them the earth is in big danger and they don’t have a clue what he’s on about. Some fantastic clips of Dinosaurs on a spaceship. This little mistake must be made all the time with The Doctor and River.
4/5
Part 3 An Ood on The loo. Nothing much else to this part. This Unexpected little gag had me in stitches purely because it’s just so random. You’re left in suspense for about 40 seconds wanting to see what’s left Rory speech less
4/5
Part 4 My Personal favourite part of this mini series. I just laughed non-stop at the Pond’s ood butler. My Best Bit; Rory’s Roman Lunch box. I also liked the SJA reference.
5/5
Part 5 Trouble at the ponds house but why? Can Rory not cook as good a breakfast as the ood? The Excitement is Building for Asylum of The Daleks!
4.5/5
Conclusion A Great way to kick off series 7 it leaves me begging for more. These episodes are a good way to see how Amy and Rory Have spent the Past 5 months waiting for Doctor Who to come back. However it leaves us with more questions than it answers. Why are Amy and Rory splitting up? What Trouble is The World in? Why is the Tardis Bulb Broken? Roll on Asylum of The Daleks .
Character of the week: The Ood on the loo
Over all score: 4/5
Asylum of The Daleks We begin on skaro the home of the daleks and what a state it’s in. The beginning is delightfully scary as you can tell the doctor knows he’s walking into a trap. Meanwhile Amy is Posing for the camera when she is called away. I love how Amy and Rory are being so cold to each other. Then just like magic they’re taken up to the dalek ship and the doctor is in the house. The Save us Line is absolutely chilling and a sign their madness.
The Time Vortex has gotten darker and greener I quite like the new changes the titles are cool as for the new logo not so much.
It Jenna Louis Coleman, I bet you didn’t see that one coming. Yes we all thought she was coming at Christmas, mind you to quote the doctor “you’ve got me what are you waiting for its Christmas.”
The Hatred is beautiful line makes me hate them more. You can tell this one is going to be a classic moffat one right from the start. This is going to be very clever and scary just like America. A bit of humour in there with the Oswin’s Soufflés line. The daleks are scared that’s new.
And Down to the asylum. The Dead Dalek puppets are chilling. Scary enough to give anyone nightmares. Amy is loving this as she is clearly missing the adventure. It’s a shame that after series 5 and 6 Amy and Rory have split up.
Back to Rory and he’s having trouble with the dalek’s, which seem to be wanting eggs. I thought Rory’s touch would wake them up like in series 1’s dalek.
A Nice reference to the nano-genes from series 1. The Humans just make the next scene terrifying and the dance around the hall. The Scotland joke was very partners in crime.
The conclusion is chilling who would have guessed oswin was a dalek?
Conclusion This episode certainly lived up to my expectations and Steven Moffat’s promises of a movie a week! I was a brilliant roller coaster of emotions. We had funny with the egg-stir-minute jokes. Fear with the insane daleks and sorrow with oswin the dalek. This series is going to be the best one yet!
